Front Page 2000™ Tutorials
Opening the Site Files for a Published Site

Prior to actually editing or updating a web sites contents, you must gain access to the site files in edit mode. Nearly all commercial sites are going to be password protected for site security. The following tutorial will give the necessary steps for accomplishing this using FrontPage 2000.

  1. Launch FrontPage software.
  2. Select File Menu + Open Web ( Image #1).
  3. In the Open Web Dialog Box, enter the web site's URL in the text field, Folder Name ( Image #2). Click Open.
  4. If site has password protection, a dialog box will appear asking for the User Name and Password. Enter the information and click OK ( Image #3).
  5. Files will open and appear similar to Image #4. A new page will be created each time you open the site. If you do not want to add a new page, DO NOT SAVE IT.

1. 2. 3. 4.

Two important points to remember; No changes that are made are displayed on a site until those changes have been Saved and Refreshed. The second have a copy of your site on disk or your computer and do your changes there. Once you are satisfied with the results you can publish your updates.
